For many years I've sailed up and down the east banks of the mighty Wascana. Some folks you remember, some you can't wait to forget, and some hold the seeds of wild legends.

Let me tell you about the king of all Joes. He rattles through the forests and grinds around Grrgina...

If you burn a big log fire, if you stay up way too late, if you hold a bottle high enough, and then call out to him and wait. Out from the dark he'll roll on in, and in a minute tell ten tall jokes. He'll pull out sweet ass, his black guitar, and give the fire a poke. If you are quiet and settle down before the light of dawn, the Joe King will sing you up an down, some raspy, growling songs.

This is The Ballad of Joe King...and I'm f#*&king serious ;-)
